Chorus

Since its creation, in 1956, it has more than one hundred of lyric titles in its repertoire. It has sung innumerable performances of zarzuelas, ballets, operas and concerts, both in the Teatro de La Zarzuela, in national and international tours undertaken by this theatre. It has also participated in the Teatro Real of Madrid productions: Divinas palabras, Las Golondrinas and La bohème.

Throughout its history the chorus has sung under the direction of Maestros such as Lorin Maazel, F. Paul Decker, Oliviero de Fabritiis, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Luis A. García Navarro, Miguel Ángel G. Martínez, Lamberto Gardelli, Armando Gatto, Peter Maag, Odón Alonso, José Ramón Encinar, Josep Pons, Luis Remartínez, Miguel Roa, Antoni Ros Marbá, Arturo Tamayo and Cristóbal Soler, among others. It has also worked under the stage direction of José Luis Alonso, John Cox, Piero Faggioni, Adolfo Marsillach, Pilar Miró, Gian Carlo del Monaco, Francisco Nieva, José Carlos Plaza, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Emilio Sagi, Luis Olmos, Hugo de Ana, Giuseppe de Tommasi...

It has the operas Le Revenant, El poeta, Kiu, El viajero indiscreto, Divinas Palabras, La Celestina, A Babel and Jo, Dalí.

It's important to mention its participation in the zarzuelas Los vagabundos and Fuenteovejuna and in the ballet Don Quijote.

It has participated in symphonic-chorals concerts both lyric concerts. Among the recordings in which it has participated include El Gato Montés, Romances of zarzuela, with tenor Plácido Domingo, Il Farnace and The purple of the rose.

Since its founding its directors has been the maestros José Perera, Romano Gandolfi, Vittorio Sicuri, Ignacio Rodríguez, Waldo Sciammarella and currently, Antonio Fauró.
