Production by Théâtre La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels and Basel Theater in Switzerland (1995)

For the first time, the Teatro de la Zarzuela hosts this production from the Theatre La Monnaie / De Munt de Bruselas and the Theater Basel of Basle. Premiered in 1995, ¡Ay, amor! is the title the conductor gave to the scene by Herbert Wernicke (deceased in 2002) who proposed merging the works by Falla El amor brujo and La vida breve. He based that title on the abundant initial "groans" of uncorresponded love in the Flamenco style cante jondo. Inspired by the paintings of Julio Romero de Torres, it is steeped in an intense perfume of love and death. Juanjo Mena shall be in charge of the musical direction.

NOTICE: visitors to the exhibition Julio Romero de Torres in the scenery of Herbert Wernicke will have a 10% discount on the price of their tickets for ¡Ay, amor! -presenting their Museum ticket into the theater box office-. Also, the ¡Ay, amor! audience will have a 50% discount (reduced rate) in the price of Museum admission, showing the ¡Ay, amor! ticket.
